JAN WADE – PHOTOGRAPHER

Jan Wade is Still Live Promotions and Jan Wade Photography. She has been an historian of the Australian music industry for the past 25 years. From the darkroom of her first job in a Melbourne lab, hand processing and printing photo’s in 1973, to the documentation of the Australian live music scene in the 1990’s. Jan’s work shows a richness of experience and talent and is difficult to express in words.To truly understand, you need to see her astounding volume of work.

Jan has produced the first Australian Blues Music Calendar titled “Australian Eyes on the Blues” 2000 to great acclaim. Exhibitions of the calendar have been viewed in the Empire Hotel, Sydney; “The Glovebox”, Canberra; Thredbo Jazz and Blues Festival, NSW; Australian Blues Music Festival, Goulburn; Plumridge House, Brisbane; “Two Faces of Eve” café, Brisbane, (Picture the Blues exhibition); Vancouver Arts Centre, Albany WA; Camelot Theatre, Perth, WA; and The Woombye Pub on Queenslands Sunshine Coast. Previous displays of her photography range from a myriad of CD covers, magazine articles, promo photo’s and posters. Jan’s photo’s, capturing the rehearsals of the 1990 Toad Show production “Sherwoodstock” were shown in the foyer of the Lyric Theatre at the Brisbane Performing Arts complex, and viewed by thousands.

At Blues festivals all over Australia, Jan’s formidable talents as artist and organiser are often called upon. Woodford Folk Festival Qld, has been fortunate to have had Jan as assistant co-ordinator for the Blues Venue for 5 years. Jan has also been chief stage manager for the annual Brisbane festival “Ladies Sing the Blues, for 4 years.

From photographer and MC to tour manager, stage manager, promotions, marketing, advertising and driving, Jan Wade is a major part of behind the scenes for many of Australia’s leading musicians.
